Personal IP & Music Films
Faces, voices, and songs — made unmistakable.
The Brief
A personal-heritage film: a granddaughter retraces her Peranakan roots by bus through the old Nanyang route — built from her telling, archive photographs, and the journey itself.

Departure
Open sky through a bus window — the journey begins before the story does. Travel as time travel: the film trusts motion to say what narration will confirm later.

The window seat
Green country runs past and her reflection rides the glass — she watches the landscape the way you watch the past. The bus window becomes the film’s screen-within-a-screen.

The last time
Until the last time I saw my grandmother. The reason for the trip arrives as plain speech over motion — no music swell, no montage. The restraint is the emotion.

The culture in hand
A book of Baba–Nyonya heritage, held and turned — the search made tactile. Culture as something you can put your hands on, which is what she came to do.

The archive
Family photographs, then the Nyonyas of the 1930s looking straight back at the lens. The journey finds its faces; the film ends where her family’s story begins.
